TABLE-TOPIC: Ask a Games Lawyer Anything: A.I. Edition

Have you been pondering an interesting legal question regarding the use of artificial intelligence in game development but haven’t had the opportunity to ask? In that case, please join us for a roundtable AMA with Tyson Gratton from DLA Piper. Tyson is an experienced (and friendly!) games lawyer and is prepared to answer and discuss your questions. The goal of this table talk is to leave you with the knowledge to spot key issues and practical strategies to deploy when leveraging AI tools in development.

While it’s the participants who will steer the conversation to the topics they want to learn most about, we expect that we’ll cover the following issues:

• Understanding your services agreement and what it means for your use of AI tools in developing deliverables (aka how to not run afoul of the IP and confidentiality provisions);
• Labour issues in respect of AI tool use (in particular re: voice acting & motion capture);
• Considerations for how to best deploy and train staff on new AI tools including drafting effective internal policies for AI use at games studios;
• How to find the middle ground when negotiating agreements with service providers for the use of their AI tools (including some common pitfalls); and
• Considerations for developing (and perhaps even commercializing) your own AI tools.

This roundtable is for anyone that is interested in the business side of making games. A great opportunity to connect and discuss in a no-pressure, friendly environment! Hope you can join us.
