The XDS Team were deeply saddened and affected by the horrific, heartbreaking, and painful stories shared by Indonesian workers in January 7th’s People Make Games report. XDS does not condone abuse or poor working conditions of employees of any external partner in video games or adjacent industries.
XDS is uncompromising in the fair and equal treatment of external partners and their employees, and we strive to create an educational environment to help developers and external partners thrive as equals. Our value of educating the games industry on the best practices for ethical and sustainable external development will not stop.
We take very seriously the allegations that such harm occurred within the context of the XDS conference. Creating a safe, inclusive environment for all attendees is paramount to us. While we have implemented a Code of Conduct and designed events to foster this environment, we acknowledge that more can be done. We are actively reviewing and enhancing our policies and practices to better educate our community, and support individuals who may face unsafe situations during our events. This is part of our ongoing effort to raise industry standards and foster a safer, more inclusive community.
Our hearts go out to all of those affected, we stand by you, and XDS will work to further support and protect you.
