XDS Adapts to our New Reality

The COVID-19 pandemic has undeniably impacted a great number of businesses in the global game development ecosystem. Since 2013, we have made it our mission at XDS to continuously advance external development for the video game industry, and we are keeping to that promise.

With our community’s health and safety in mind our team has made the difficult, yet right decision to adapt XDS to become a fully virtual experience. We promise that this year’s XDS20 Adapt won’t disappoint!

Our team is excited about the transformation to XDS20 Adapt as we go full steam ahead in planning an experience that facilitates engaging business connections while offering dynamic content and opportunities for social interaction.

XDS Advisory Committee Chair, Chris Wren addresses this change stating,

Although the decision was incredibly difficult, it’s opened our eyes to new, innovative ways to engage with our community, share critical knowledge and continue to facilitate new business connections. In addition we have the benefit of time to plan what we hope will be the best virtual event our industry will see this year!

As we venture onto a new path for this year, we are ecstatic to know that some of our sponsors are fully supportive and optimistic of this adaptation.

Virtuos Games, Director of Business Development for North America, Jake Digennaro, says,

We’re optimistic about the direction XDS is adopting as the event transitions to a virtual-first format, and that it can be as educational & beneficial to all participating teams as it has over the past many years. We all find ourselves in uncharted waters, so while I’ll miss September weather in Vancouver, I’m still very excited about the event.

Waterproof Studios, Director and VP of Business Development, Carl Waterside,

XDS has a track record of excellence, and we have no doubt that this year’s event will not disappoint. We look forward to seeing colleagues and friends there!

General registration for XDS20 Adapt will open on July 7. As we continue to work on a balanced ratio between Developers/Publishers and Service Providers, XDS20 Adapt may sell out for the 5th consecutive year.
